About Me

When I am not busy with life, I am what most people call an amateur photographer.  I have had an interest in photography for most of my life, but in the last 10 years, I have decided that I want to REALLY learn this craft.

Photography is an art-form, and while, yes ANY monkey can press a button, and use a camera on the little green "AUTO" box mode, I want to learn more. Over the last several years, I have vowed never to let the dial on my camera switch back to the dreaded green box. As a result, I have grown as a photographer, and learned things that would be possible if I had not taken a chance. Have I had crappy pictures because of this? Well, honestly, yes. Have I learned what NOT to do? yes. Do I know it all now? absolutely NOT!

My primary focus in my photography is High School Seniors. I enjoy creating images that use Off Camera Flash (OCF), dramatic lighting, and are more editorial in nature. I also enjoy creating Environmental Portraiture. You will notice my images are not the typical "bright and airy" look that so many photographers create today. While those are beautiful, they just simply aren't a style that I enjoy creating. My images are focused more in the editorial look. If you are looking for back-lit, sun-flare types of images in sunflower fields, I am probably not the one to create pictures for you. I also very seldom ever take family portraits, baby portraits, or shots with little kids. Since my time to photograph is usually very short, I choose to focus on one field, and master that. High school seniors is that field.

I hope you enjoy my scatter-brained and slightly OCD blog. Some of my blog posts are really just a journal of my learning process. I hope maybe it can help others as well.

Happy Shooting!
